What is Restorative Dental Care?

Restorative dental care procedures aim to restore the normal function and appearance of your smile.

Our dentists can repair structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth, to help restore your oral health and your smile.

Depending on your issue, the dentists at Ainslie Street Dental will determine the right restorative treatment option for you.

Dental Implants in Cambridge

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that functions like a natural tooth root and can be topped with a tooth replacement such as a crown or bridge. Dental implants can replace your missing teeth and restore the appearance and function of your smile.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are porcelain caps that are placed over an entire decayed or damaged tooth in order to restore the tooth's function. Crowns are also used to attach bridges, cover dental implants, and help to restore discoloured or stained teeth to their natural appearance.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge fills the gap left by missing teeth with a bridge of natural-looking artificial teeth,  bonded on either side to existing teeth or dental implants. Dental bridges are custom-made to match your natural teeth, making them barely noticeable to others.

Dental Fillings

At Ainslie Street Dental, we use composite (tooth-coloured) fillings to repair a cavity or tooth damage, like a crack. Composite fillings are less noticeable than traditional silver fillings and can withstand moderate pressure from the constant stress of chewing.

Full & Partial Dentures

Dentures are artificial teeth that can replace one missing tooth or several in a row (partial dentures), or a whole jaw of missing teeth (full dentures). Dentures can help patients with missing teeth to maintain their facial structure, and speak and eat properly.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays are used to repair cavities when the damage is too extensive for a standard dental filling. These tooth-coloured fillings are custom-made in a dental laboratory and are then permanently cemented to the damaged tooth as a single piece.

Root Canals

A root canal procedure involves the removal of any decay, bacteria, and nerves from the interior of a severely damaged tooth. By performing a root canal your dentist can help to halt the spread of infection and prevent the need for an extraction.

Periodontal (Gum) Therapy

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues of the mouth which support the teeth, including the gums, gingiva, alveolar bone, cementum, and periodontal ligament. If your dentist detects the disease while still in the early stages, preventive therapy will be recommended. Treatment for more advanced gum disease will depend on the severity of your condition.

TMJ Disorder Treatment

The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is a hinge that connects your jaw to your scull's the temporal bones. If your teeth and/or jaw become misaligned, you may begin to suffer from TMD. This condition can cause jaw muscle pain and difficulty in opening your mouth. Our dentists can test for, diagnose and provide a treatment plan for TMJ Disorder.
